- Stone chess tables
- Grills
*We are working the parks department on these projects - you will be seeing these changes soon.*
We also received grants in 2024 for:
- Park Benches along 2nd Ave.
- Bike maintenance station

Balsam Pond Park Improvement Project
MLCA is working with the South of 6th Sustainable Neighborhood Network and the city of Lakewood on making changes to Balsam Pond Park. The vision is to remove the field of weeds and plant native plants with meandering paths through the gardens. The project is in the beginning stages and we're seeking community input on how this space should be utilized.

Food Trucks
Join us for food and fun this summer as we bring food trucks to the neighborhood each month! Dates and vendors will be released soon!

Annual Picnic
Come say "goodbye" to summer with us at the annual picnic on Sunday, August 24, 2025. We'll provide food from the grill and you can bring a side to share. We'll have bounce houses, face painting, a raffle, and lots of fun!

Annual Tree Lighting
Every year, MLCA adorns the largest tree in Meadowlark park with lights to brighten the darkest days of winter. Join us for crafts, songs, hot cocoa and snacks as we light the tree on Sunday, November 30, 2025. RSVP on our events page so we can prepare enough cocoa and snacks.
Please bring a canned good for our donation to the Jeffco Action Center.

South of 6th Sustainability
We are proud to partner with South of 6th Sustainability on many of our projects so that we can create an eco-friendly neighborhood. There are several community events hosted by South of 6th including composting classes, litter clean up, and more!

Community Bike Ride
MLCA and South of 6h Sustainability co-host a community bike ride at the beginning of each summer. We wear costumes, decorate our bikes, have safety demonstrations from Bike Jeffco, and ride around our beautiful neighborhood.
In 2025, we are hoping to pair the community bike ride with the annual garage sale and ride around the neighborhood scoping out all the great yard sales. Save the date for June 7, 2025!

SLE Community Garden
We love our community garden at South Lakewood Elementary! There are plots available to the community. Our MLCA neighbors can assist in caring for the classroom plots over the summer.
MLCA is working with the community garden and South of 6th Sustainability to host several events for the entire community. In the past we have done free concerts and free movies and we're hoping to do something fun again in 2025!

Neighborhood Watch
MLCA is committed to maintaining the safety and integrity of our neighborhood. Neighborhood Watch helps us keep our area safe. Learn more on our neighborhood watch page!
