Park Improvement Grants Approved!
The Lakewood Neighborhood Participation Program (NPP) offers grants of up to $60,000 for qualifying physical improvement projects that residents believe will make a difference in their neighborhood. MLCA applied for grants earlier this year, and in late May two of our applications were approved! The approved projects are for the following improvements to Meadowlark Park:
· Installing two chess tables and seating at the park, and
· Installing two charcoal grills near the pavilion!
We will be working with Lakewood Parks on the next steps to have these upgrades installed! We will keep you updated on the progress!
Community Garden at South Lakewood Elementary
The new community garden at South Lakewood Elementary is growing strong! There are many events happening at the garden that are open to everyone including a FREE concert on August 12 at 5pm. If you're interested in the garden events or a plot for next year, check out their website.
Early Event Successes!
MLCA has organized some great events so far this summer! Our new community bike ride was a fun early June event for many. Also in June, it was another good year for the garage sale, with lots of households selling their no longer wanted wares. Many people have been enjoying the Tuesday evening food trucks at Meadowlark Park too—see calendar for the remaining August dates! Thanks to everyone who has participated! See you again soon!

Letter from the President
We are in the middle of the summer heat! And we are midway through what is shaping up to be a great year for MLCA! We are doing well so far on our theme for the year - growth. As part of this we organized some new events for that were very successful:
· The Community Bike Ride in early June was a great way to learn about bike safety and have some fun around the neighborhood!
· The Summer Food Trucks at Meadowlark Park have been a fun event *every other* Tuesday for neighbors to get some food and socialize at Meadowlark park. I hope to see you at the last two!
Also new for this year is our application to the Lakewood Neighborhood Participation Program for grants to make improvements to Meadowlark Park. In late May we learned that two of our applications were approved! We will be working with Lakewood Parks to have two chess tables and two grills installed at Meadowlark Park!
We have more events coming for the late summer and fall! Please mark your calendars for the annual Neighborhood Picnic which will be on Sunday August 27th, and the Tree Lighting which will be on Sunday November 26th. The MLCA Annual Meeting will be on Thursday October 5th. We will host a Candidates Forum with candidates for Mayor and City Council in attendance to answer your questions. We will also be voting as an organization on whether to expand the boundaries of MLCA, and voting on the MLCA Board members for the next year.
It is a great year so far, with more great things to come! Please send in your dues today to help make it all possible!

MLCA is seeking new business sponsors!
Sponsors help MLCA in a variety of ways and we are so grateful to them! They donate funds, gift cards, equipment, time, and space so that the Mid-Lakewood Civic Association can provide fun events and meaningful projects for our residents. Without them, we would not be able to do everything that we do. Check out the businesses who support our organization on our business sponsor page!
